The SOS Medical Foundation welcomes Benedict Bono as the newest full time staff member. He is the SOS Café Kitchen Supervisor leading a team of volunteers through training, food preparation, catering and cleaning.

Bono started a part time position at the SOS Café in December 2021 and quickly proved himself as an essential part of the SOS Café team.

In addition to keeping up with the power bowls, grilled sandwiches, soups and variety of items that round out our delicious menu, he has added an assortment of wraps to our daily selection.  Bono will also be instrumental in supporting the expansion of catering events within the Penticton Regional Hospital, as well as external businesses that order catering for their events or meetings.

The SOS Volunteers are enjoying getting to know Bono. He is very kind and treats everyone with dignity and compassion, and shares his laughter freely. On Monday mornings you can hear Bono and Marilyn singing in the kitchen while preparing the day’s menu.

Bono came to Canada from the Province of Batangas in the Philippines in November 2019. He was recruited by McDonald’s to be the night manager at the Main Street restaurant in Penticton.

Bono has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Operations Management graduating from Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Lipa College in April 2014.
