Your donations are saving lives! “The LUCAS provides CPR and it takes the human out of the picture. It actually does the chest compressions for us so that then the team can concentrate on other things to do such as getting medications, getting IVs in or getting them on the monitor or whatever other pieces need to be done. It takes away that human from actually providing CPR. The great thing about the LUCAS is it provides CPR very consistently so it does not lose its pace, it doesn’t lose count or get tired or not be able to continue the CPR. It has been used several times now and it’s even been used up to and including taking somebody all the way to Kelowna so that they could actually get the services they needed there but it freed up the nurse to actually bring the patient to still give medications and do all those other important pieces of their job. I would say it’s contributed to saving several people’s lives already. This serves all of the South Okanagan – Oliver, Osoyoos, Princeton, Keremeos, Summerland. We sometimes get people from Peachland and of course Penticton. To the donors, thank you. This is probably the greatest pieces equipment that we’ve gotten as far as is that how it helps us with it almost provides us another staff member in essence so it’s a fantastic piece of equipment and we thank you for donating and ultimately getting us this life saving piece of equipment”. -Jeannette Gordon, Manager, Clinical Operations, Penticton Regional Hospital
