We recommend that you
engage your financial or legal advisor to help create your endowment
for the South Okanagan Similkameen Foundation. Together with your
family, this professional can help you make the best decisions
regarding what you want your legacy to be, how much you can afford to
give now, and how your estate can add to your endowment.
Life
Insurance
When you give life
insurance, even a relatively small commitment can have significant
benefits for South Okanagan Similkameen patients and you. There are
many ways to make a gift using life insurance. Give ownership of a new
or an existing policy to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical
Foundation, or simply name the Foundation as the beneficiary. You can
also make a “no-cost” gift by using life insurance to replace the value
of a current gift of cash or stock to your heirs. Each option has
different tax benefits and may make sense at different stages of life.
RRSPs
and RRIFs
You can designate the
South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Hospital Foundation as beneficiary
of your RRSP or RRIF, or make a gift in your Will equal to the proceeds
from your RRSP or RRIF.
Trusts
Make a gift to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation during
your lifetime in exchange for a guaranteed income for life and a tax
benefit today. Upon your death, the remaining assets in the trust will
go to the Foundation.
A
Gift of Stock
Transferring your
securities to South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation is easy.
Simply contact your financial advisor and discuss your wish to make a
gift of securities to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical
Foundation. Your advisor will contact our agent to arrange transfer of
the securities to the Foundation’s brokerage account. Our agent will
advise us in writing upon receipt of the securities, as well as the
value at closing on the day they were received into our account. You
will receive a charitable gift receipt for this amount.
Property
You can donate real estate, shares in privately held corporations,
royalty interests, works of art, jewellery, collections, or other
property to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation.
An
Endowment
An endowment is capital
invested to provide a steady and dependable income for a charitable
cause. When you leave an endowment for the South Okanagan Similkameen
Medical Foundation, you give a perpetual source of hope for future
generations of patients. Income may provide support for equipment
purchases, research, education and health programs. An endowment may be
funded with a gift of $25,000 and added to during your lifetime by you
or your family or friends, or through your estate. |
